The New Jersey Nets' owner insisted the team is not for sale, shooting down a report Thursday that investors were being assembled to buy the franchise and move it to Newark. "The team is very simply not for sale, and any stories that suggest or insinuate that we would be interested in listening to those conversations are flat out false," Bruce Ratner said in a statement.

Rodman arrested for allegedly hitting woman
Former NBA star Dennis Rodman has been arrested for allegedly hitting a woman at a Century City hotel. Los Angeles police say the 46-year-old Rodman was arrested Wednesday night after officers answered a report of a domestic dispute. Officer Sara Fayden says they learned Rodman had struck a woman, who suffered injuries to her arm. Rodman was jailed for investigation of felony domestic violence and freed on $50,000 bail early Thursday.
Durant wins Rookie of the Year award
The Sonics' Kevin Durant has been honored as the NBA Rookie of the Year, becoming the first Seattle player to win the award - and perhaps the last. Durant, the national college player of the year at Texas and the No. 2 pick in last year's draft, averaged 20.3 points per game. Durant has been a bright spot during a dismal basketball season in Seattle. The Sonics won only 20 games, and the owner is moving the team to Oklahoma City.

Sonics coach P.J. Carlesimo will return next season, the team said Thursday, ending speculation he would be fired after the team won just 20 games in his first year with the Sonics. General manager Sam Presti said at a news conference that Carlesimo would be back.
