The Charlotte Bobcats have fired coach Sam Vincent after one season. The team announced the move Saturday. The fourth-year franchise had hoped to make the playoffs for the first time this season. But the Bobcats went 32-50, and that put Vincent's job in jeopardy. Part-owner Michael Jordan had taken a gamble in hiring Vincent. Vincent had never been an NBA head coach and had spent just one year in the league as an assistant.

McDyess has surgery on broken nose
Pistons forward Antonio McDyess returned to Detroit on Saturday and had surgery to repair the broken nose he suffered in Game 3 of their playoff series with Philadelphia. Pistons coach Flip Saunders said McDyess' availability for Sunday's Game 4 would depend on how he felt after surgery. McDyess was injured Friday in the third quarter of Detroit's 95-75 loss to the 76ers.
