"Cleveland Cavaliers guard Daniel Gibson could miss six weeks with a severely sprained left ankle, the latest costly injury for the defending Eastern Conference champions," according to an Associated Press report on ESPN.com. "An MRI taken on Thursday at the Cleveland Clinic confirmed the sprain, and the club said Gibson is expected to be out 4-to-6 weeks. Baron Davis Hands Out His 2008 BOOMSCARS
What I love about the Oscars is that it's the big daddy of them all. It's kind of like how the playoffs are a teaser for the NBA Finals yet they still have a big impact. The Golden Globes and SAG present their awards, but we all wait with bated breath for the Oscars. I've had a fantastic time the past few months watching a ton of movies, hearing your feedback and writing reviews. Below are my picks for the upcoming Academy Awards and my first annual BOOMSCAR awards, which include my own spin on some new categories you won't see this Sunday on live TV. - Read More...

LeBron gives his approval on Cavs' trade
LeBron James danced in his seat. Guess he likes the trades. James, who had been hoping the Cavaliers would pull the trigger on a deal prior to Thursday's trading deadline, gave his stamp of approval to the club's acquisition of Ben Wallace, Wally Szczerbiak, Joe Smith and Delonte West - four players the Cavs feel can get them an NBA title. "I'm excited," he said. Jason Kidd may have been James' No. 1 choice, but he wasn't complaining about Cleveland's new quartet.
Wells on trade: 'It's a great situation'
Bonzi Wells doesn't eat seafood or pork, which pretty much rules out gumbo, jambalaya, crawfish and soft-shell crab - the dishes for which New Orleans is known. He says he'll settle for a good steak and otherwise focus on basketball, which shouldn't be hard to do with the Hornets playing about as well as any team in the NBA. "It's a great situation," Wells said Friday, when he and guard Mike James arrived from Houston. "I think myself and Mike will fit in well here.

Lakers Biggest Winners in Player Shuffles
In the PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER, David Aldridge writes "in the liveliest NBA trade season in quite some time, nearly every contending team made a significant move by yesterday's deadline. And those that didn't were trying up to the last minute. Grading on the curve, here are some early assessments: A-plus: Lakers. (They acquired Pau Gasol from Memphis for Kwame Brown, Javaris Crittenton, Aaron McKie, the rights to Marc Gasol, and draft picks.) A: Spurs. (They acquired Kurt Thomas from Seattle for Brent Barry, Francisco Elson, and a 2009 first-round pick. They also signed Damon Stoudamire.)" - Read More...

Wallace takes shot to face, leaves on stretcher
Bobcats scoring leader Gerald Wallace was taken off the floor on a stretcher during Friday's game against Sacramento after being hit in the face with an inadvertent elbow. A team official said Wallace suffered a concussion and was taken to a hospital for further evaluation. Wallace was double-teaming Kings forward Mikki Moore in the post early in the third quarter and was called for a foul a moment before Moore swung around with the ball. Moore's right elbow hit Wallace directly in the nose.
Artest mum on future after Kings keep him
A day after the NBA trade deadline passed and Ron Artest stayed put, the Sacramento forward skipped into the Kings' locker room about an hour before the tipoff of Friday's game against the Charlotte Bobcats. "Go Kings go! Go Kings go!" Artest yelled. "We don't need any cheerleaders. Go Kings go!" Yet just minutes later when Artest was asked if he was happy to still be a King, the smile was no longer on his face. "I have no comment," Artest said.
