Araujo Leaves Jazz To Play In Russia
In the SALT LAKE TRIBUNE, Ross Siler writes "Rafael Araujo's tenure with the Jazz ended with the signing of second-round draft pick Kyrylo Fesenko, a 7-foot-1 center from Ukraine who won't turn 21 until Dec. 26. Now Araujo's NBA career is on hold after three seasons in which the Brigham Young product failed to live up to expectations as the No. 8 overall pick in 2004. Araujo signed Thursday with Spartak St. Petersburg, the Russian club team for which Andrei Kirilenko once played. Spartak plays in the Russian Superleague but not in the Euroleague that is home to most of the continent's top teams." - Read More...
Jazz Wouldn't Mind Trading Up In Draft
Tim Buckley of the DESERET MORNING NEWS writes, "The Jazz have readily acknowledged that they wouldn't mind trading up in the June 28 NBA Draft. They even suggest there is a good chance they'll make a significant deal before the 2006-07 season begins ? and, no, that is not a reference to last week's swap that sent youngsters Kris Humphries and Robert Whaley to Toronto for former BYU star Rafael Araujo. Beyond that, though, it seems there is plenty more smoke where the fire is being fanned." - Read More...

Araujo Back in Action Tonight for Raptors?

Peter Vecsey: Bosh & Co. Are Opening Eyes
Peter Vecsey of THE NEW YORK POST writes, ?The 10-in-a-row Nets are playing so well, I did a double-take to make sure Bye-Ron Scott hadn't been fired the day before the run started. Before Vince Carter's 42-point detonation and game-ending trifecta laid the Raptors to rest, Toronto had won five straight, its finest showing in more than two seasons. I'd be derelict not to acknowledge Rob Babcock for drastically recouping from the Carter hijacking and seemingly (I'm not so sure anymore he's going to be a bust) unspeakable decision to choose Rafael Araujo No. 8 overall in '04.? - Read More...
Nets' Carter injures ankle against Raptors
New Jersey Nets guard Vince Carter left Saturday night's game against the Toronto Raptors with an apparent right ankle injury. Carter was taken to the dressing room with 8:03 left in the third quarter after he fell to the ground after getting tangled up with Toronto center Rafael Araujo in the lane under the Nets' basket. Toronto led 60-55 at the time of the injury. - Read More...

Iguodala repeatedly dunked on the Raptors, who fell to 4-20 overall and 1-12 at home. The forward also had 26 in a victory over Toronto on Nov 16. Toronto selected center Rafael Araujo one pick ahead of Igoudala in the draft two years ago. Fans booed Araujo in the fourth quarter when he failed to convert an alley-oop dunk. - Read More...
